Life is truly unpredictable. One unfortunate turn of events can make you lose all that you worked for. Like this story of a principal who is now a janitress to the school she worked at for 40 years. At 84 years old, Pacita Piano is still cleaning Ligaya Elementary School’s vicinities.
The former teacher’s students described her as kind but strict. She was even considered a ‘terror’ one. Edwin Antonio recalled his experience with Pacita. He mentioned one instance when the bell rang and they all excitedly rushed to the gates. Their teacher found their behavior disrespectful so she blocked their way from getting in.
urthermore, Piano became the school’s principal in 1995. Her former colleague, Elna Samut said that Ma’am Pacing was an academically centered teacher during her stay as one. Every time there is an absent teacher, the ex-principal stood in for them herself.
Korina Sanchez was able to interview Piano. The “Rated-K” host asked the former teacher what her life was like as a principal. The 84-year old said that she observed classes and checked teachers’ lesson plans.
Sadly, in just the blink of an eye, all the money she saved and her pension were gone. Piano was able to build a house for her son, but it was left unfinished.
Moreover, the main reason her money was gone was that her relatives borrowed from her. Unfortunately, the house she built for herself was destroyed in a fire. All the evidence that she lent her relatives money was burnt so they stopped paying her. Her son had bad habits. As a result, he never finished studying.
Determined in spite of the tragedy, she remained positive. They were struggling so she had to work and get back on her feet. The former teacher went back to the school which was her second home for more than 40 years. However, she did not return as someone who teaches inside the classroom, but as the person who cleans the corridors.
