Internet connection problems will end soon! Thanks to President Duterte!

Internet connection problems will end soon! Thanks to President Duterte! Foreign competitors about to arrive in the country!

Our suffering from a slow internet connection might come to an end soon. We just have to hope that President Rodrigo Duterte will not any more chances to these abusive Telecommunication Companies in the country.

During one of the episodes of the President’s TV show “Sa Totoo Lang” aired over PTV 4, he discussed his plan to allow foreign telecommunications companies to do business in the country to improve internet services for Filipinos.

“The only way to improve your service is bigyan kita ng kompitensiya,” the President said, stressing that he would allow four to six foreign internet service providers to enter the country.

He said a Chinese firm and a Singaporean-based company had already expressed desire to set up stations here.

The Chief Executive earlier issued a warning to local telecommunications firms to improve the services that they provide to the public, otherwise they would have to compete with new players.

The President, in conclusion, said he remains grateful for the overwhelming support he has been receiving from the Filipino public, as shown in recent surveys.

“To the Filipino people, salamat ho (sa) suporta ninyo. Because the surveys show, all, Pulse Asia, everything. So walang manipulation. Hindi fake news ‘yan,” he stressed.

“So ako naman, I am grateful, not elated. Nagmamagandang loob ho ako sa inyo na naintindihan ninyo ang trabaho ko. ‘Yun lang,” he added.

The President then reiterated his commitment to create genuine change in people’s lives, particularly on ending the illegal drug problem and improving the country’s economy so Filipinos no longer have to look for better jobs abroad.

IT STARTED HERE.

The issue on the internet connection problem in country resurfaced after Information and Communications Technology Secretary Rodolfo Salalima resigned from the Cabinet. because of personal and work-related reasons, Malacañang announced Thursday.

The former secretary cited personal and work-related reasons as per the Malacañang announcement.

However, President Rodrigo Duterte revealed recently that he is the one who asked Salalima to resign from his post due to conflict of interest.

Salima is a former classmate of Duterte at the San Beda College of Law. He served as a chief counsel of Innove Communications, Inc. and chief legal counsel and senior advisor to Globe Telecoms.

INITIAL WARNING

Last June, when the President was newly elected, already warned these telcos in the country.

He said that he is giving local telcos the chance to show they can improve internet service in the country after PLDT and Globe gained control of San Miguel Corporation’s coveted 700-megahertz frequency.

Asked if he thought PLDT and Globe’s acquisition of the frequency would improve connectivity, Duterte said, “sabi ng mga engineer, yes.”

President Duterte is honest enough to admit that he doesnt know a thing about these frequency and internet communication jargon.

“Ako wala akong alam diyan. I am giving them the chance to improve,” Duterte said.

He then repeated his earlier statement that he would allow the entry of foreign players if service providers failed to make the country’s internet service faster.

Have You Ever Seen An Olm? It Looks Like a Tiny Dragon Who Lives in a Cave!

Dragons may not be real but they’ve have captured humanity’s imagination for generations. Almost any person would be excited to see a real-life dragon but sadly they can only be encountered in fiction. What if we told you that there’s a rare creature that comes close to these mythical creatures? Meet the olm, a tiny dragon-like creature that lives in caves deep underground.

An olm or proteus anguinus is an aquatic salamander that can be seen exclusively in the caves of Europe. It’s especially found in the Dinaric Alps, mountain ranges which stretch from Italy to Slovenia. According to Edge of Existence.org, the olm can survive without food for up to 10 years and can live up to a hundred years. The creature is a part of an ancient lineage of amphibians evolving independently for 190 million years. This rare species is currently under threat caused by pollution and habitat disturbance.

Southern Slovenia’s Soča River basin is where these strange creatures can be found. Locals have nicknamed them “human fish” because their skin looks more like a human’s than an amphibian’s. An olm can grow up to 25 – 35 centimeters long. One of their most noticeable features is their gills, which can be seen sticking out of their head. These tiny salamanders spend their whole lives underwater thanks to their gills.

All olms are albino creatures. They sport no pigments because their subterranean habitat has no light coming from the outside. These unusual creatures are also mute and blind, again, due to their dark underground environment. They find their way around the dark using so-called electroreceptors. These allow them to detect the electric fields emitted by other animals. With their long body and tiny arms and legs, they look just like baby dragons!

'Human snake' teen who sheds her skin every six weeks because of ultra-rare condition to get miracle treatment

Shalini Yadav, 16, has to have a bath 24 times a day and slather herself with moisturiser to stop her skin from hardening and seizing up

A 'human snake' who sheds her skin every six weeks due to an ultra-rare condition is hoping for a miracle treatment in Europe.

The horrific disorder has left 16-year-old Shalini Yadav unable to walk without a stick or straighten her limbs.

She has to have a bath 24 times a day and slathers herself with moisturiser to stop her skin from hardening and seizing up.

Her family are so poor they haven't been able to afford any specialist treatment to ease her ailments so local fundraisers have alerted hospitals around the world - including one in Spain who has now agreed to treat Shalini for free.

The delighted teenager from Nowgong town in Chattarpur district of the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, will fly to Spain tomorrow (Sat) for treatment.

She said: "I was very excited to learn that we'd be going to Spain.

"I have seen the place in an Indian TV show - now I will actually get to see it."

Doctors have diagnosed Shalini with Erythroderma, an inflammatory skin disease also known as 'red man syndrome', but were unable to treat it.

It causes the skin over almost the entire body to become scaly and flake off and Shalini has shed her skin every 45 days since she was born.

She has to soak her body in water every hour - night and day - and smear herself with lotion every three hours to prevent drying out.

Her desperate mother Devkunwar said: "I feel so helpless when I see her skin coming off, causing excruciating pain to my child.

"This disease is not killing her but taking her life bit by bit.

"We have no idea where to go to and who to consult."

Devkunwar, a carer in a state-funded community centre, is so heart-broken she says death would be kinder to her daughter.

She added: "It is better to die than living a life of misery."

Shalini's two siblings Sejal, 15, and Price, eight, are normal with no such complication.

Her father Rajbahadur, a daily wage worker, said: "It's really sad because she was not born normally and has scaly skin all over her body.

"It is similar to being severely burnt, from the sole of her feet to her head."

Shalini got help after India-based press agency Newslions, run by Sanjay Pandey, highlighted her plight, who have also helped pay for additional expenses.

She is being treated for free at Regional University Hospital and Virgen de la Victoria of Malaga.

Rajbahadur added: "I am very grateful for all that the hospital from Spain is offering.

"Without their help and Mr Pandey's support, my daughter would never get a shot at leading a normal life."

Sanjay, who is travelling with the family, said: "The ideas is to improve her quality of life so that she can straighten her legs and so on.

"Doctors say she should be able to walk without stick after the treatment."
